Outside the lab Jay would stop and inventory his items, moving things around to the front pockets or back pouch as needed and shifting some of his equipment to his belt and the various pouches there. Potions, pokeball, and stylus were all on hand, his pokedex was easily accessible, and shifting things around carefully, he was able to place the egg into the main pouch of his bag, making sure it was padded nicely and nothing was pressing too sharply against it. Satisfied at last, he shifted his bag over his shoulder again and, sliding his starter's ball out of it's holster, held it thoughtfully while he moved down the road.
Jay's mind was still on the issue that had been mentioned with the legendaries, but there was no point really lingering too much on it right now. Until he either had an encounter himself, or more info to work on, it was really nothing more then the simple warning of the professor. They were appearing. No reason, no indication of their demeanor towards things, nor even any clue of what was happening as a result or how this was affecting things. But they were appearing. He would hope he wouldn't have such an encounter anytime soon before he had time to prepare and train, or that if he did it was not as grim a thing as the warning had made it seem, but he couldn't help what would come, just make sure he was ready for it.
Once he passed what seemed the limits of the town and properly entered the route, Jay paused, gloved fingers running over the pokeball a moment as he glanced around the lightly forested route and across the lake before nodding and popping the seal on the ball with a flash of red. The first step of preparing would have to be meeting his starter though, and to begin attempting to train or get other pokemon under his command. Communication and training were both vital, and he wanted to get a good feel for his newest companion.
